The United States Men’s National Cricket Team proudly represents the country in international cricket tournaments. Initially organized by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), the team gained associate membership status in the International Cricket Council (ICC) back in 1965.
However, in June 2017, the ICC took the decision to expel USACA due to concerns related to governance and financial matters.
Consequently, the oversight of the U.S. cricket team was temporarily handed over to ICC Americas until a new governing body could be established.
History of USA Cricket Team
USA Cricket Team Debut: The United States made its debut in international cricket at the 1979 ICC Trophy held in England. Since then, the team has participated in most editions of the tournament, now known as the World Cup Qualifier, missing only two.
In 2004, the United States achieved a significant milestone by winning the ICC Six Nations Challenge, which earned them a spot in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy.
It was during this tournament that the team played its first two One Day International (ODI) matches, marking a notable moment in their cricketing journey.
In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) took a historic decision to grant full Twenty20 International (T20I) status to all its member teams.
As a result, any Twenty20 matches played between the United States and other ICC member countries after January 1, 2019, were recognized as full T20Is.
The United States’ first-ever T20I match was scheduled against the United Arab Emirates in March 2019, signifying a significant step in their cricketing progress.
