The 2023 edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) – Sri Lanka’s very own franchise T20 cricket tournament – is currently underway, having commenced on July 30. Much like other popular franchise leagues such as the Indian Premier League, Big Bash League and Caribbean Premier League, the LPL has grown rapidly in stature since its inception in 2020.
The tournament sees leading domestic players from Sri Lanka play alongside major international superstars like Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews and David Miller.
Contested by 5 franchises based in prominent Sri Lankan cities, the LPL provides a great platform for local talents to showcase their skills.

The winners of LPL 2023 will take home handsome prize money of USD 100,000, while the runners-up will earn USD 50,000.
There are also individual rewards for standout performers. The Player of the Tournament will be awarded USD 10,000 and the Player of the Match in the final will receive USD 2,500.
The Emerging Player of the Tournament award of USD 2,000 will go to the best under-23 player.
Additionally, the team that best displays the Spirit of Cricket will get the Fair Play award and USD 2,500.
