Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament 2023 Schedule: The sixth edition of the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Cricket Tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.
The annual domestic cricket competition features 5 regional teams made up of players from the Afghanistan national team, A team, Under-19 squad and domestic cricket. The tournament will span 21 matches over 3 weeks, culminating in the final on November 20.
The 5 competing Teams are:
- Amo Region
- Boost Region
- Mis Ainak Region
- Speen Ghar Region
- Band-e-Amir Region
Mis Ainak Region are the defending champions, having won the last 3 editions of the tournament consecutively. Speen Ghar Region and Boost Region have also tasted success in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The 5 teams will play each other twice in a double round-robin format during the league stage. The top 2 sides at the end of the 20 league matches will progress to the final on November 20.
All the matches will be held at the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Stadium in Jalalabad, Nangarhar province. This stadium has a capacity of 12,000 spectators.
Mis Ainak Region and Amo Region will feature in the tournament opener on October 29. The final will also be held at the same venue.
The tournament is an important platform for Afghanistan cricketers to showcase their skills ahead of national selection. It also helps maintain high domestic cricket standards and breed healthy competition amongst regions.
