The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has announced the squads for the inaugural UP T20 League tournament starting on August 30, 2023. The game will feature 6 city-based franchises – Meerut, Noida, Kashi, Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kanpur.
The franchises in the player draft picked up some notable players:
- Noida Super Kings: This team secured the services of veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar along with talented youngsters like Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana. The team will be captained by the experienced Suresh Raina.
- Kashi Rudras: The Rudras picked explosive opener Shivam Mavi who hails from the city of Kashi along with the prodigious Priyam Garg as their two-star attractions. The team will be led by Punjab Kings batsman Mandeep Singh.
- Lucknow Falcons: The Lucknow franchise acquired the services of some good domestic talent like Ankit Rajpoot, Mohsin Khan, and Deepak Hooda. Kerala wicket-keeper Sanju Samson will captain the Lucknow team.
The other franchises like Meerut, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur have also assembled competitive squads mixing youth and experience. Well-known coaches like Sanjay Bangar, Pravin Amre, and Vijay Dahiya are in charge of various teams.
The league aims to showcase the best cricketing talent from Uttar Pradesh and provide a platform for youngsters to play alongside established domestic and international cricketers.
